Jan Soochna Portal
Governance Initiative - An Extension to Right to Information:
This portal was
launched in Jaipur by Rajasthan Government in India to perform the functions of
Social Audit of the public services delivered to the citizens of Rajasthan
state. It was started by the Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gahlot. This portal is
specifically to support the ‘Public Accountability Act’ which is enforceable on
all public sector organizations including departments, authorities,
corporations etc. This is an extension to the ‘Right to Information Act’. The Jan Soochna
Portal will provide information and status of all plans, policies, rules on
pro-active basis as provided in Section 4(2) of the RTI Act, 2005. The section
states to provide maximum public information without having any demand from the
citizens known as pro-active disclosure of the information.
Minimum Government Maximum Governance:
This portal is to meet the objective of
Government i.e. ‘Minimum Government Maximum Governance’. The Jan Soochna Portal
– 2019 provides information through self-service ‘e-Mitra plus Kiosk’ and also
provide access to the information through mobile app. The portal is prepared by the "Department of Information Technology and Communication".
How to take information on Jan Soochna Portal:
The Kiosk
provides the links for the information and after selecting the appropriate
options, the information is displayed on the screen. At present, the
information upon 23 schemes is made available for the citizens. There is no
need of any identity for retrieving the information from the portal. There are
no charges for retrieving the information from the Jan Soochna portal.
